Promotion Ideas for Owl Moon
I would follow the reading of this book with an online book talk. The teacher would post discussion questions in a blogging platform, such as KidBlog.org, and students would be required to comment on the questions, as well as on other students' comments. Possible discussion questions are located in the word document below.

Students always enjoy making book trailers to promote a book they have done in class. The link to the right is an Owl Moon book trailer.

Click the button to the right to be taken to a Trailers for Kids Web site. The book trailers at this site are made by kids for kids.

Creative bulletin boards with book reviews done by different students can really generate interest in a book. Two examples are provided at the right, but many variations are possible. The bulletin board could be organized by different genres of books or in other ways that are useful to students. Students can use this bulletin board as a way to read about their peers' thoughts on different books and to find books that they, too, might enjoy reading.

Another area of study that would correlate to Owl Moon is owls. Use story details and information to compile a list of what you now know about this creature. Then, create a list of things you'd like to find out about this nocturnal animal. Students can work in pairs or small groups, to gather these facts. Then, they can share these findings with classmates. The video at right examines what owls eat as well as what an owl pellet is.
